Several residents have asked about cleaning and safety in the area around Barking Station. Here is a summary of the cleaning programme provided by the council:
Static Sweepers operate in two shifts:
– From 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM, covering the area from Cambridge Road to the park gates.
– From 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, focusing on Cambridge Road to the roundabout.
Mechanical Sweeper:
– On duty from 5:30 AM to 11:00 AM, covering the wider town centre.
This vehicle begins at the station and revisits areas as needed throughout the morning. It also provides support to the static teams upon request.
Van Crew:
– Available Monday to Friday, from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM and again from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, assisting with waste collection and responding to additional demands around the town centre and station.
Regarding Community Safety Enforcement (PSPO):
Due to current staff shortages, there is no fixed routine for patrols around Barking Station. However, it remains a priority location and is patrolled on average five days a week. Additionally, the area is monitored daily by our CCTV team, and any incidents of crime or anti-social behaviour are reported immediately to the Police and Community Safety Enforcement team.
We appreciate your engagement and remain committed to maintaining a clean and safe environment for all residents and visitors.
You’ll also see your Labour Councillors out-and-about litter picking across the ward.
