Part-funded by your Councillor’s Ward budget, the Cycles Hub has become an incredibly popular local service, with residents from Valence and across Barking and Dagenham making full use of it every week. The Dr Bike pop-up sessions, run by experienced mechanics from Vandome Cycles, offer free bike repairs and expert advice, and have been warmly welcomed by the Valence community.
The Becontree Cycle Hub, based at Fiddlers Junction, runs every Monday and Thursday from 8am to 12 noon, and on Saturday from 10am to 2pm.
The hub is busier than ever, with residents regularly bringing their bikes in for checks and repairs, seeking cycling advice, and even purchasing bikes. In 2023–24 alone, there were 141 sessions, resulting in around 1,356 cycle repairs, 1,117 cycling enquiries, and 130 bike sales — a clear sign of how valued the service is.
Residents from Valence and across Barking & Dagenham have expressed their thanks to Labour councillors for Valence Ward for supporting and funding this initiative, which is helping to keep people active, promote sustainable travel, and build a healthier, greener community.
